Paris to Host Global AI Summit with 700 Leaders in February 2025

Paris is set to attract global attention with the AI Action Summit at the Grand Palais on February 10-11, 2025. The event will gather 100 heads of state, including Donald Trump and Chinese officials, and 700 influential figures from business and civil society, such as Elon Musk and executives from OpenAI, Google, and Meta.

The first day will feature workshops, conferences, and demonstrations, followed by a dinner at the Élysée Palace. The second day will include discussions among political leaders and a dedicated business day highlighting corporate initiatives.

Leading up to the summit, an 'AI Week' will commence with scientific days on February 6-7 and cultural events on February 8-9. The French government aims to position Paris as a global AI capital, emphasizing the technology's opportunities alongside its risks.

President Emmanuel Macron has been actively involved in discussions surrounding the European AI Act, which seeks to balance innovation with regulation. The summit will also unveil recommendations from the European AI Champions Initiative, aimed at fostering local tech giants.

In a bid to promote inclusive diplomacy, the Élysée stated the summit would address global AI governance, a topic currently under discussion at the UN, G7, and OECD. The agenda includes themes like 'AI for the Common Good' and the promotion of open-source technologies.

Concerns about the environmental impact of AI will also be addressed, with plans to form a coalition to standardize energy consumption measures. Cultural exhibitions featuring AI-created art and debates on copyright issues will be part of the agenda, alongside discussions on misinformation and employment impacts.
