Turfan, China, Expands Wind Power Capacity

TURFAN, China, Jan. 23, 2025 -- The Xiaocaohu region's 805,000 kW wind power project has successfully connected to the grid, increasing Turfan's total wind power capacity to 3.06 million kW. This milestone is projected to yield over 6 billion KWH annually, marking the largest power supply within the Turfan power grid.

In recent years, Turfan has capitalized on its wind resources, achieving 20 million kW of new energy capacity. The region has attracted multiple wind power projects and established wind power equipment manufacturing, producing essential components such as turbines and blades. A 240,000 kW energy storage power station has also been constructed to bolster these initiatives.

State Grid Turfan Power Supply Company has implemented measures to support wind power equipment enterprises, promote green electricity, and enhance the utilization rate of wind power. By the end of 2025, Turfan is expected to reach an additional 2.25 million kW in wind power capacity, totaling 5.31 million kW, which will represent 38.3% of the total installed power capacity. The wind power utilization rate is anticipated to exceed 94%, with energy storage capacity projected at 275,000 kW, advancing the region's low-carbon energy transition.
