JAKARTA - A recent survey by Google Workspace reveals that Generation Z is the primary user of artificial intelligence (AI) in the workforce. The survey found that 93% of Gen Z workers, aged 22-27, utilize at least two generative AI tools weekly, surpassing the 79% usage rate among millennials (ages 28-39).
Yulie Kwon Kim, VP of Product at Google Workspace, stated, "Young workers are using AI to revise emails and documents, take meeting notes, or even to brainstorm ideas." Furthermore, 88% of Gen Z respondents reported using AI to initiate challenging tasks.
The survey, conducted at the end of summer, included 1,005 full-time knowledge workers aged 22-39, including both current and aspiring leaders. This trend highlights the younger generation's role as pioneers in adopting new technologies, similar to their previous embrace of email and collaborative applications.
If Gen Z continues to leverage AI effectively, it is likely that other generations will follow suit. Kim added, "If AI can help simplify work, employees can focus more on strategic and creative tasks."
