Poland Launches AI-Powered Math Program for Students

A new artificial intelligence-driven program called "Intelligent Math - Online Notebook" has been developed by scientists at the Warsaw University of Technology to enhance math learning.

The program is designed for students of varying skill levels, monitoring not only their problem-solving abilities but also their fatigue and engagement levels, according to Deputy Minister of Education, Iwona Lubnauer.

Utilizing advanced algorithms, the program encourages cognitive development and logical reasoning rather than merely presenting information. It is aimed at reducing the need for human intervention in learning.

With a budget of 6 million PLN, the program will be implemented in schools, benefiting 50,000 students in grades IV to VI. The Ministry of Education will allocate 1.6 million PLN this year and 4.4 million PLN next year for its deployment.

The initiative has already shown positive results in certain municipalities since 2018, with improvements noted in standardized exam scores.

Lubnauer emphasized that the program aims to support students in underperforming areas, where access to educational resources may be limited.

While some may fear that AI could replace teachers, Lubnauer reassured that educators will always be essential, stating that nothing can replace the empathy and personal connection that teachers provide.

The platform operates through web browsers, offering personalized tasks based on each student's skill level. As students progress, the difficulty of tasks adjusts accordingly, ensuring a tailored learning experience.
