HOHHOT, CHINA - December 5, 2024 - The 2024 Green Methanol Energy Industry Development Forum in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, showcased advancements in methanol as a key player in the energy sector. Methanol, noted for its efficient combustion and clean emissions, is gaining traction as a 'super fuel' that aligns with China's carbon neutrality goals.
China is the global leader in renewable methanol production, with projections indicating that 75% of new capacity will originate from the country by 2026. Inner Mongolia plays a crucial role in this transition, hosting various stakeholders to discuss the green methanol industry's development.
Farizon presented a range of methanol-hydrogen electric vehicles, including heavy-duty trucks and buses, designed for diverse applications such as urban logistics and public transport. Notably, the Homtruck achieved an impressive 1,522.9 kilometers on a single tank of green methanol.
The Alashan green methanol project has commenced, targeting an annual production of 500,000 tons, with an initial capacity of 100,000 tons. This initiative utilizes hydrogen from electrolyzed water and industrially captured CO2, exemplifying effective carbon resource recycling.
Inner Mongolia's commitment is further reflected in securing 4.699 billion yuan in subsidies for renewable energy in 2024, supporting wind, solar, and biomass power generation. The region is dedicated to enhancing its energy structure and promoting the adoption of green methanol technologies.
These developments not only bolster Inner Mongolia's economy but also serve as a model for sustainable energy practices in China and globally.
