BYD Dolphin Electric Car Gets Facelift Ahead of European Launch

The BYD Dolphin, an electric vehicle rivaling the Renault Mégane E-Tech and Volkswagen ID.3, is set for a facelift in China, hinting at potential updates for Europe.

Recent disclosures from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) reveal design changes aligning the Dolphin with BYD's Ocean range, which recently welcomed the Sealion 7. The front features rounded headlights and grille, while the rear sees minor adjustments in the bumper and light strip design.

The Dolphin '2.0' measures 4.28 m in length (with a 2.70 m wheelbase), 1.77 m in width, and 1.57 m in height, maintaining identical dimensions to its European counterpart.

However, details on interior modifications or battery updates remain undisclosed. The MIIT confirms a 130 kW (177 hp) motor, already known from the European version, alongside entry and top-tier options of 70 kW and 150 kW, respectively.

Currently, the BYD Dolphin is priced from €33,990 in France, offering two battery choices of 60.4 kWh, providing a WLTP range of 427 km. Anticipation builds regarding potential battery or price changes in the coming weeks.
