The project "Pseudonature" by architect Yasen Markov will represent Bulgaria at this year's Venice Architecture Biennale, announced at a press conference in the Ministry of Culture's gallery. The project scored 61 out of 70 points, as announced by jury chairman Vladimir Milkov.

This year's Venice Architecture Biennale, the 19th edition, will take place from May 10 to November 23, 2025, under the theme "Intelligence: Natural, Artificial, Collective." The curator of the international exhibition is Italian architect Carlo Ratti.

Meanwhile, Spain will showcase the project "Internalities: Architectures for Territorial Equilibrium" at its pavilion, curated by Galician architects Roi Salgueiro Barrio and Manuel Bouzas Barcala. The exhibition aims to explore key strategies for the decarbonization of architecture in Spain, highlighting the commitment of Spanish architectural production towards environmental sustainability.

The Spanish pavilion will present 16 selected works from an open call that received 171 submissions, focusing on ecological, environmental, and economic aspects of construction. The displayed projects will emphasize the use of local, regenerative materials with low carbon footprints, including wood, stone, ceramics, and natural fibers.

Both national participations underscore a growing awareness and proactive approach within the architectural community to address climate change and promote sustainable practices in design and construction.
