NASA Astronauts Celebrate Thanksgiving in Extended ISS Mission

NASA astronauts Sunita Williams, Butch Wilmore, Nick Hague, and Don Pettit shared a Thanksgiving message from the International Space Station (ISS) on November 27, 2024. The crew, currently on an extended mission, offered a glimpse into their holiday meal, which included smoked turkey, brussels sprouts, butternut squash, and apples, showcasing how their celebrations differ in space.

Williams and Wilmore have been aboard the ISS since June 5, originally scheduled for an eight-day mission. However, issues with their Boeing Starliner spacecraft have delayed their return until 2025. NASA confirmed that the ISS is well-stocked with necessary supplies, ensuring the astronauts have adequate food, water, clothing, and oxygen.

Despite the extended duration of their mission, the astronauts maintained positive spirits, expressing gratitude and wishing their families a happy Thanksgiving.
