Severe Wind Advisory in BC, Nov 19, 2024

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Prince George and surrounding areas, forecasting very windy conditions throughout the day on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Peak wind speeds are expected Tuesday night, continuing into Wednesday.

The weather agency reports, 'A significant fall storm will impact the BC Interior today and Wednesday.' A low-pressure system approaching the coast is anticipated to deepen rapidly before moving northward while remaining offshore.

Residents are warned that strong winds may lead to downed trees or broken branches, posing risks for power outages and travel delays. It is advised to secure loose outdoor items.

This advisory extends to regions including South Okanagan, Nicola, Fraser Canyon, South Thompson, 100 Mile, Chilcotin, Cariboo, Stuart-Nechako, Lakes District, Bulkley Valley, and Williston, as well as along Highway 97 from Clinton to 100 Mile House.
