Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk Meet Trump at Mar-a-Lago

Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon and owner of the Washington Post, met with Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on Wednesday evening. The gathering also included Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX.

Following the event, Musk tweeted, “It was a great conversation.” The meeting attracted attention due to the business interests of these tech leaders with the U.S. government. Bezos, for instance, has significant stakes through Amazon Web Services and Blue Origin.

Both companies manage large contracts with government agencies, including a $10 billion deal with the National Security Agency (NSA) and a lunar landing project with NASA.

Musk has reportedly donated over $250 million to support Trump and is currently appointed to lead efforts on government budget cuts alongside Vivek Ramaswamy. SpaceX has a government contract valued at $3.8 billion for 2024.

Other tech leaders, such as Mark Zuckerberg from Meta, Sam Altman from OpenAI, Shou Zi Chew from TikTok, and Tim Cook from Apple, have also visited Mar-a-Lago or financially supported Trump’s inauguration fund. Zuckerberg and Altman have each committed $1 million to support Trump’s inauguration events.
