Model Hailey Bieber, 28, has revealed she suffered a severe postpartum hemorrhage after giving birth to her first child, Jack.

Jack is the son of Hailey and singer Justin Bieber, 31. The baby was born in August 2024. Hailey shared that the newborn was quickly taken from the room after delivery as doctors worked to control the bleeding.

"I entrusted my life to my doctor. So I was calm because I knew he would never let anything happen to me. But I was bleeding a lot, and people die, and that goes through your head. You start to get a little scared," the Rhode cosmetics founder said.

Postpartum hemorrhage is excessive blood loss after childbirth. According to experts, it is a leading cause of maternal mortality worldwide.

Before the birth, the businesswoman practiced breathing techniques, acupuncture, yoga, pelvic floor physiotherapy, exercise, walking, and weight training. However, at 39 weeks of gestation, she began leaking amniotic fluid and needed to be hospitalized for labor induction.

Doctors administered oxytocin to stimulate contractions and inserted a Foley balloon to help dilate the cervix.

"It was crazy. It wasn't fun. They broke my water. I was induced and spent several hours in labor without anesthesia," she stated in an interview with Vogue.

In addition to the scare during childbirth, Hailey confessed to facing a difficult period of emotional adjustment. The model revealed she developed body dysmorphia and feelings of self-loathing.

"Every day I have to talk to myself, like: 'Hailey, you had a baby. You created a human being. You gave birth to a human being. It's okay. Be kind to yourself.'"

Hailey, who has been married to Justin since 2018, has been the target of rumors about a possible crisis in the relationship, due to the singer's recent behavior in public appearances and on social media.
