Brazil to launch new social programs focusing on gas access, home renovation credit, and app worker conditions

Brazil is set to launch several new social programs aimed at improving the lives of its citizens. These initiatives, announced by President Lula da Silva, focus on expanding access to cooking gas for the poorest, providing credit for home renovations, and improving working conditions for app-based delivery workers. The programs are expected to be rolled out in the coming weeks. The cooking gas program aims to make gas more affordable for low-income families. The government wants to address the disparity between Petrobras' selling price and the final cost to consumers in some states. Currently, around 5.5 million families receive assistance for cooking gas every two months. Another key initiative involves providing credit for home renovations. This program will enable people to build additional rooms or facilities in their homes. The government also plans to improve conditions for app-based delivery workers by facilitating financing for motorcycles and creating rest areas with basic amenities.
