Uttar Pradesh Plans to relocate big cats to reduce human-wildlife conflict

Edited by: Anna 🌎 Krasko

The Uttar Pradesh Forest and Wildlife Department is preparing a proposal to relocate tigers and leopards. This is in response to increasing human-wildlife conflict.

The proposal aims to move big cats from densely populated forest zones to areas with lower wildlife concentration. The plan will be submitted to the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) for approval.

The state has seen over 50 human deaths annually due to attacks. The government also plans to install warning systems and AI monitoring to track animal movement.

Relocation plans target regions like Amangarh, Pilibhit, and Dudhwa. The animals will be moved to less populated forests such as Sohagibarwa, Najibabad, and Ranipur.

Districts affected by conflict will be protected using chain-link and solar-powered fencing. The government emphasizes involving local communities in conservation efforts.
