US Doubles Tariffs on Aluminum Imports, Raising Risk of Trade War with EU

Edited by: S Света

London, June 9 - The United States has doubled tariffs on aluminum imports, escalating trade tensions with the European Union. This move increases the risk of a trade war, particularly concerning aluminum scrap.

The U.S. has raised tariffs to 50%, potentially flooding the market with imports of recyclable materials. The EU is considering export duties on aluminum recyclables to prevent "scrap leakage" to the U.S.

The U.S. Midwest aluminum premium has surged to a record high, reflecting the fractured global pricing structure. China, the world's largest aluminum scrap buyer, is caught in the middle of this trade dispute.
