According to the Energy Information Administration's Short-Term Energy Outlook released Tuesday, the United States is projected to experience a decline in domestic crude production in 2026.

This marks the first such decrease since 2021, representing a potential setback to the US's energy dominance goals.

Output is forecast to decrease to 13.37 million barrels a day in 2026, down from an estimated 13.42 million barrels a day in 2025.
