Iran demands clarity from us on sanctions relief for nuclear deal

Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

Iran is demanding clarity from the United States regarding the lifting of sanctions as negotiations continue over Tehran's nuclear program. Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Esmail Baghaei stated that the US has not provided sufficient detail on how and through what mechanism sanctions would be removed. This demand comes after the US submitted a proposal deemed "acceptable" by Washington. Tehran seeks guarantees regarding the "real end of the sanctions," including specific details on the process. The US proposal reportedly calls for Iran to end all uranium enrichment, a point of contention. Iran has confirmed receipt of the proposal but emphasizes that receiving the text does not equate to accepting it. Negotiations between Iran and the US have been ongoing since April 12, aiming to revive the nuclear deal abandoned by the Trump administration in 2018. Iran has ramped up uranium enrichment, a move criticized by the US and raising concerns internationally.
