China Expands New Energy Vehicle Push in Rural Areas

Edited by: an_lymons vilart

June 4, China: China has initiated its annual campaign to promote new energy vehicles (NEVs) in rural areas, with a wider scope than the previous year.

The campaign features 124 NEV models from various automakers, including BYD, Geely, and Tesla's Model 3 and Model Y. The initiative focuses on county-level cities and townships with low NEV adoption rates.

The campaign employs an 'online + offline' approach, promoting online ordering with offline deliveries. It supports the expansion of maintenance, charging, and financial services in rural areas.

China's NEV production and sales increased significantly in the first four months of the year, with NEVs accounting for nearly 43% of new vehicle sales.
