WhatsApp to Launch AI Studio for Custom Chatbots

Edited by: Veronika Radoslavskaya

WhatsApp is developing a new feature called "AI Studio" that will allow users to create their own AI assistants directly within the app. This feature is similar to OpenAI's Custom GPTs or Google Gemini's Gems, enabling the creation of customizable chatbots without any coding knowledge.

The feature is currently being tested with a small beta group of iOS and Android users. The AI Studio interface provides a step-by-step guide that does not require technical expertise. Users will first select the role of the bot, such as a learning coach, travel assistant, or source of motivation.

Next, users will define the bot's tone and style, with options like calm and thoughtful, energetic and witty, or professional and informative. WhatsApp will also offer suggestions to shape the bot's conversational style based on these preferences.

Created chatbots will be private by default. However, users can share these bots with others via a private link. This system mirrors the functionality of OpenAI and Google's applications. AI Studio, previously available only on the web, will be directly integrated into WhatsApp.

Once the feature is officially launched, users will be able to develop their own AI assistants directly within the app, without needing an additional platform.
