Several of China's popular AI chatbots have temporarily disabled image recognition features to prevent cheating during the annual "gaokao" college entrance examinations.
Apps such as Tencent's Yuanbao and Moonshot's Kimi suspended photo-recognition services during the exam period. The chatbots stated that the function was disabled to ensure fairness. The "gaokao" is a crucial exam for millions of Chinese students.
Alibaba's Qwen and ByteDance's Doubao initially offered photo recognition but restricted it during exam hours. The Education Ministry has issued regulations against using AI-generated content in homework and tests. Approximately 13.4 million students are participating in this year's exams.
