In Spain, the fashion rental market is experiencing growth, driven by consumer interest in sustainability and flexibility. The online platform Trent, established in 2022, is at the forefront of this shift. Their new physical store in Barcelona marks a significant change in how fashion is consumed, emphasizing access and style over ownership.
Designed by p0 studio, the 470-square-meter space serves as an archive, gallery, showroom, and cultural hub. Trent's editorial approach aims to educate and inspire a new generation to consume fashion responsibly. The company's CEO, Alejandro Assens, emphasizes the importance of creativity and style in this new approach.
The physical store has allowed Trent to expand its archive and reach a wider audience. Garments are meticulously maintained and rotated, ensuring each customer receives items in perfect condition. Trent offers both one-off rentals and purchases, as well as a monthly subscription starting from 145 euros, providing continuous access to archive pieces.
Laia Cuscó, the CPO, curates a diverse range of items, from streetwear to tailoring and accessories, with a focus on aesthetics and ethical production. Trent collaborates with designers known for their commitment to responsible practices. The store features both well-known and emerging brands, catering to an exploratory clientele.
The Barcelona store provides an opportunity for exploration and try-ons, with free fitting room bookings for a personalized experience. The space also hosts cultural events, talks, and fashion shows, further enhancing the concept of dressing as an experience. This approach aims to provide customers with access to garments not typically found in conventional shops.
