Seven historical artifacts, including Bronze Age figurines, have been repatriated to Turkey from Switzerland. The artifacts include gilded face and belt sections of male and female votive statuettes. This repatriation was facilitated by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The return ceremony took place at the Turkish Embassy in Bern. Ambassador Şebnem İncesu highlighted the significance of the event. She noted it was the fourth such ceremony since the signing of an agreement in 2022.
The agreement between Turkey and Switzerland aims to prevent the illicit import and transit of archaeological cultural property. Fabienne Baraga, Head of the Specialized Body Responsible for the International Transfer of Cultural Property at the Swiss Federal Office of Culture, expressed honor in returning the artifacts. These artifacts will undergo scientific analysis and be displayed in Turkish museums.
