The National Weather Service has confirmed two tornadoes touched down in Wharton County, Texas, during early morning storms on Thursday. The first, an EF-1 tornado, packed winds of 100 mph and touched down around 3:05 a.m.
This tornado traveled east, causing damage to homes and trees. The most significant damage occurred along Everett and Holiness lanes, with numerous homes sustaining roof damage and several trees losing large branches. Approximately 10 homes and vehicles were damaged.
A second tornado, rated EF-0 with 75 mph winds, touched down around 3:20 a.m. east of Burr. It caused minor tree damage and blew the roof off an older shed. The storms highlight the volatile weather patterns affecting the region.
