Hurricane Barbara Forms Off Mexico's Coast, While Cosme Follows

Edited by: Anna 🌎 Krasko

Hurricane Barbara has formed in the Eastern Pacific, marking the first hurricane of the season. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported the storm, located southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico, with sustained winds of 75 mph.

Swells from Barbara are expected to impact southwestern Mexico's coastline, potentially causing dangerous surf and rip currents. Heavy rainfall is forecast for coastal regions, raising concerns about flooding and mudslides.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Cosme, located further west, is projected to strengthen into a hurricane. Cosme is expected to weaken rapidly by Tuesday night and Wednesday, posing no threat to the U.S. coastline.
