Elche, Spain, has unveiled a new scenic overlook, offering stunning views of the city's most iconic landmarks. This initiative aims to boost tourism and provide visitors with a unique perspective on the city's rich heritage.

The new viewpoint is integrated into an existing garden along the Vinalopó River. It features a wooden structure with a perimeter railing, allowing visitors to take in the Palmeral, the Basilica of Santa María, and the Altamira Palace in a single glance.

Tourism Councilor Irene Ruiz explained that the space aims to promote the city's tourist appeal. The project was executed through employment workshops that carry out improvement work on the riverbank.

Mayor Pablo Ruz highlighted the collaborative effort between municipal areas. He also emphasized that this is just the first of many viewpoints planned throughout the municipality, including in the surrounding districts. The goal is to create a network of viewpoints to provide tourists and locals with a special memory of Elche.

The city already has other panoramic enclaves, such as the "railway bridge" and the "City Hall bridge". The government team intends to continue improving these spaces. The area around the viewpoint will be enhanced with gardening and the planting of ivy to improve aesthetics and camouflage unevenness.

In addition, the lighting on the entire riverbank is being renovated, replacing sodium vapor luminaires with more efficient and sustainable LED lighting. The Councilor for Economic Promotion, Samuel Ruiz, has emphasized the importance of the project, aiming to showcase Elche and its most beautiful corners.

Mayor Ruz encouraged people to visit the new viewpoint and requested improved signage from the nearby area. He also linked this proposal with other recent initiatives, such as hot air balloons and the Baillo Tower, reaffirming the municipal commitment to a tourism strategy based on landscape, history, and experience.
