Dubrovnik's New Viewpoint: A Fresh Perspective on Tourism

Edited by: Irina Davgaleva

A brand-new viewpoint has opened in Dubrovnik, stirring up a lively mix of cheers and critiques! This project, which broke ground in February, now welcomes visitors with a €3 entry fee, while locals, residents of nearby municipalities, and veterans enjoy complimentary access.

The viewpoint has become a hot topic on social media, with the entry fee sparking the most debate. Some feel it's a charge for a natural vista, leading to claims of commercializing a public treasure. However, the visionary behind the project, Mr. Paskojević, counters that he's not selling a view, but rather a unique experience and a secure spot for capturing those perfect photos, akin to viewpoints in global hotspots.

Despite the chatter, many visitors are singing the viewpoint's praises! Local entrepreneurs are championing the importance of considering the bigger picture of tourism growth, especially when private ventures, built on legal foundations and personal investment, are involved. Slavica Grkeš, a well-known Dubrovnik entrepreneur, is a strong supporter, highlighting the value of enriching the tourist offerings.

Grkeš points out that the viewpoint generously offers free entry to locals, veterans, and children, while charging tourists the price of a coffee. She believes it's a fantastic addition to Dubrovnik's tourism scene, providing guests with a safe and accessible spot for snapping memorable photos. Nikolina Trojić, President of the Dubrovnik County Chamber of Commerce, also sees no issue with the project, emphasizing that it's a private initiative offering a valuable product or service.

Trojić is a firm believer that expanding tourist products is a win for Dubrovnik, and she hopes this venture inspires others to dream up new offerings. The viewpoint's owner, Mr. Paskojević, has ensured his business is fully registered and operates legally. The project's goal is to elevate the tourist experience and provide visitors with a truly unforgettable experience.
