Foz do Iguaçu, a destination renowned for its stunning landscapes, has added a new attraction for nature lovers and cycling enthusiasts.
Urbia Cataratas, the concessionaire managing the Iguaçu National Park, and the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio) have inaugurated a 11.4 km bike path. This allows visitors to cycle through sections of the Atlantic Forest to the viewpoints of the famous falls.
The new route, called the Ciclovia das Cataratas (Waterfalls Bike Path), begins at the park's Visitor Center and continues to the start of the Cataratas Trail. Cyclists can connect with the local biodiversity during the ride, spotting various native fauna and flora species.
In addition to providing a unique experience of immersion in nature, the bike path reinforces Foz do Iguaçu's commitment to sustainable tourism and the promotion of outdoor activities.
The Ciclovia das Cataratas offers a paved path that winds through dense sections of the Atlantic Forest, providing a unique sensory experience. Along the way, it's possible to hear the songs of native birds, smell the aroma of the vegetation, and, at certain points, see the imposing waterfalls of the Iguaçu Falls.
The path is accessible to cyclists of different experience levels and can be ridden with personal bikes or rented on-site. The rental service, called Bike Iguaçu, offers models of various sizes, with pick-up and drop-off points at the Visitor Center, the Caminho das Bananeiras reception area, and the beginning of the Cataratas Trail.
