Israel Strikes Iran, Killing Revolutionary Guard Commander Amidst Rising Regional Tensions

State media reported that the commander in chief of Iran's Revolutionary Guard, Gen. Hossein Salami, was killed in an Israeli strike on Friday.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced a "special state of emergency" following the "preemptive strike against Iran." He warned of potential drone and missile attacks against Israel and civilians.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the U.S. was not involved in the strikes but is prioritizing the protection of American forces in the region. Tensions have escalated, with Iran previously warning of potential attacks on U.S. bases.
