OpenAI Unveils Voice Mode for ChatGPT on Desktops

OpenAI has launched the 'advanced voice mode' for ChatGPT on desktop versions for Windows and macOS. This update allows users to select from predefined voices like Breeze, Juniper, Cove, Ember, and Spruce for personalized interactions with the chatbot.

Initially set for testing since June, the release was delayed to ensure safety and reliability standards. After several months of development, the voice mode was finally made available in September for mobile users of ChatGPT Plus and Teams, supporting over 50 languages.

To install the voice mode update on Apple devices, macOS 14 or higher and an Apple Silicon processor (M1 or later) are required. Both operating systems necessitate downloading the latest app version to access the new feature.

In addition to voice options, OpenAI has improved the speed and naturalness of conversations. Notably, ChatGPT now recalls previous interactions, allowing for contextually relevant responses.
