Ukrainian Banks Report Profit Growth Amid Economic Resilience

Ukrainian banks have reported a 7% increase in profits for the first nine months of 2024, according to a survey conducted by the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU). The total profit reached 117.63 billion UAH after taxes, with PrivatBank accounting for 41% of this total.

The survey, part of the 'Systemic Risks in the Financial Sector' report for November 2024, indicates that bank executives have consistently improved their assessments of the financial sector's resilience to significant negative events over the last two years. Approximately 97% of respondents rated the sector's stability as average or better.

Despite the ongoing war with Russia, which remains a primary risk factor, over half of the surveyed executives believe the financial sector's condition has not changed in the past six months and do not anticipate any shifts in the next six months. The overall risk level in the sector is viewed as moderately high.
