OpenAI Aims to Triple ChatGPT Users by 2025

OpenAI plans to increase its weekly ChatGPT user base from 250 million to 1 billion by 2025, according to CFO Sarah Friar. This ambitious goal includes launching new AI products and partnering with Apple.

As ChatGPT celebrates its second anniversary, OpenAI is shifting focus towards 'AI agents' and developing its own search engine. A beta version of this search technology is already available to Plus and Team subscribers.

Friar stated, 'By 2025, we will be consolidating as a research lab serving millions... hoping to reach billions of consumers worldwide.'

The company aims to introduce chatbot-like products that assist with information searches and online purchases. Additionally, OpenAI seeks to enhance integration with Apple products to attract more users.

Srinivas Narayanan, VP of Engineering, emphasized the significance of 'agents' in the coming years, envisioning successful implementations that assist everyday users. 'In 2025, we will see the first successful agents helping people in their daily lives,' he noted.

OpenAI's founder and CEO Sam Altman mentioned the company is preparing for the 'Era of Intelligence' with over $6 billion in investments. As of October, OpenAI was valued at $150 billion, the highest valuation for a startup in Silicon Valley.

In the past year, OpenAI has quintupled its workforce to over 2,000 employees and transitioned to a private company. Plans are also underway for constructing data centers in the Midwest and Southwest regions of the U.S.
