Haralambos Pitsolis Wins 41st Authentic Athens Marathon with Record Time

Haralambos Pitsolis emerged victorious in the 41st Authentic Athens Marathon, clocking an impressive time of 2:18:56. His remarkable performance was highlighted by a dramatic surge near the Megaron Concert Hall, where he overtook fellow runner Panagiotis Karaiskos to cross the finish line first at the Panathenaic Stadium.

Pitsolis, representing G.A.S. Ilisos, marked his return to the top position after a two-year hiatus. Following him was Panagiotis Karaiskos, who finished with a time of 2:19:50, while George Menis claimed third place with a time of 2:21:40.

The marathon attracted over 70,000 participants from 152 countries, making it a significant global sporting event. The race covered the historic distance of 42.195 kilometers, starting from the Tomb of Marathon and culminating at the iconic Kallimarmaro Stadium, with all finishers expected to complete the course by 17:42.

In the women's category, Stamatia Noulas achieved a career-best performance, finishing first among female participants with a time of 2:40:19. This remarkable achievement not only secured her victory but also set a new national record, surpassing the previous record held by Tina Kefala.
