Dubai, UAE: Khazna Data Centers has announced the construction of its largest data center in the UAE, a groundbreaking 100MW facility located in Ajman. This data center, the first AI-optimized facility in the region, is set to enhance the UAE's position as a leader in AI innovation and support the burgeoning digital economy.
The announcement was made by CEO Hassan Alnaqbi at GITEX Global 2024, with notable attendees including H.E. Suhail Mohammed Al Mazroui, Minister of Energy & Infrastructure, and H.E. Yousif Al Ali, CEO of Etihad Water and Electricity Company. The facility spans 100,000 square meters and includes 20 data halls, each capable of 5MW, with construction already underway and expected completion in 15 months.
Designed as a Tier 3 data center, the Ajman facility will utilize energy-efficient, modular designs to meet the anticipated doubling of power demands in the AI sector by 2026. It will primarily source its electricity from Etihad Water and Electricity Company, emphasizing sustainable energy practices.
Khazna's investment in this multi-billion-dirham project aims to create highly skilled jobs in AI and position the UAE as a hub for business and innovation. CEO Hassan Alnaqbi highlighted the correlation between a nation's AI preparedness and its data infrastructure proficiency, asserting that the new data center is tailored for the high computing power and scalability required in the AI era.
With the launch of the Ajman data center, Khazna is driving the digital economy towards a sustainable future, integrating advanced cooling techniques and energy-efficient designs to support the UAE's goals for environmental sustainability and technological advancement.
