Korean Researchers Develop Innovative Lithium Metal Battery

Researchers from the Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST) in South Korea have unveiled an innovative lithium metal battery featuring a three-layer solid polymer electrolyte. This groundbreaking design addresses long-standing safety concerns associated with dendrite formation during charging and discharging cycles.

The battery is reported to not only extinguish flames but also maintain robust performance even after numerous charge cycles. Dendrites, which resemble tree-like structures, can compromise internal connections within batteries, significantly increasing the risk of fires and explosions.
