Mercedes Introduces AI-Powered Note-Taking App for Vehicles

Mercedes-Benz has launched a new AI-driven note-taking application, Mbux Notes, for its Classe C, Classe E, CLE, and GLC models. This feature, part of the third-generation Mbux infotainment system, will be available in 30 European markets, including Italy, starting December 3, 2024.

Mbux Notes enables users to take voice notes while driving, utilizing end-to-end encryption between the vehicle and the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud. The app employs OpenAI's generative GPT technology to summarize and structure these notes.

Once a user finishes dictating a note, they can request Mbux Notes to read back the summary before sharing it via email with platforms like Gmail and Microsoft Outlook. The app can also integrate with various note-taking and productivity applications.

To access Mbux Notes, users must create a Mercedes me ID account. According to German engineers, this new app expands Mercedes-Benz's generative AI capabilities, enhancing the digital experience for both drivers and passengers.

The internally developed application supports multilingual voice notes and hands-free functionality, catering to tasks ranging from grocery lists to meeting agendas and project organization.
