Rare Autographed Beatles Album Expected to Fetch £12,000 at Newcastle Auction

An autographed copy of The Beatles' 1965 album Help! is set to make waves at an auction in Newcastle, with bids expected to reach up to £12,000. The album, signed by all four members of the iconic band, will be sold by Mrs. Annie Newby at Anderson & Garland's Music auction on October 23.

The valuable item comes with a letter from the original owner, confirming that the autographs were obtained at The Liverpool Hotel Adelphi. John and Ringo signed above their names, while Paul and George signed below, all in black ballpoint pen.

Bob Todd, a music enthusiast, purchased the autographed album in September 1989. After his diagnosis with a rare form of leukaemia in 1990, he gifted the album to his close friend, Max Newby. Following both men's passing, Annie Newby has decided to part with this cherished piece of music history.

“This album has brought immense joy to both my husband and his friend,” Annie shared. “I hope it finds a loving home where it will be appreciated as much as it was by Max and Bob.”

With fewer than 100 signed Beatles albums believed to exist, this particular piece is a rare find. The auction will also include a Christie's receipt for insurance valuation from January 1989, adding to its provenance. Viewing for the auction will take place on October 22 at Anderson House in Westerhope.
