Birdwatching and Conservation Efforts
The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of ensuring the safety of these migratory birds, directing the forest department to take necessary measures. To enhance the experience for tourists, two boats are already operational, with plans to introduce additional speedboats soon. This initiative aims to provide visitors with a closer look at the incredible wildlife that calls Pong Dam home.
Unique Attractions and Activities
Last year, nearly 30,000 tourists explored the area, and ongoing efforts are set to increase this number further. Excitingly, water sports activities are being introduced at the Regional Water Center near the Pong Dam Barrage, promising an exhilarating experience for adventure seekers.
Wildlife Interpretation Centre
A Wildlife Interpretation Centre has also been established in Basa, costing Rs 3.20 crore, to enhance tourist experiences and promote educational resources. This center is designed to raise awareness about conservation and the remarkable migratory patterns of birds. It offers accommodation for students, providing a unique opportunity to connect with nature and learn about the biodiversity of Pong.
