Brazil's Summer Tourism Boom: 35% of Brazilians Plan Beach Getaways

19:03, 24 december

As the summer of 2025 approaches, Brazil is witnessing an exciting surge in travel enthusiasm, with over a third of its population planning leisure trips. According to a recent study by the Ministry of Tourism, approximately 35% of Brazilians intend to travel between December 2024 and February 2025, with a staggering expectation of injecting R$ 148 billion into the economy.

With an average spending forecast of R$ 2,514 per traveler, this represents a remarkable 34% increase compared to the previous summer. The research highlights that the majority of travelers (97%) will choose domestic destinations, with beaches being the top preference for 54% of respondents. Following the coastal allure, ecotourism and nature attractions rank second at 10%, while adventure and wellness experiences attract 5% each.

Celso Sabino, Brazil's Minister of Tourism, expressed optimism about the upcoming season, stating, "Brazilian tourism is breaking records, and the summer season will be crucial for an even better 2025." He emphasized that the findings from this research will help direct public policies to enhance local tourism infrastructure and promote destinations effectively.

With travelers planning to extend their vacations to an average of 12 days, the allure of Brazil's natural beauty, affordability, and the chance to reconnect with family and friends are significant factors influencing their choices.

The Ministry of Tourism is also collaborating with airlines to increase domestic flight capacity to 29.8 million seats this summer, reflecting a 12% growth from the previous year. This increase will provide 184,000 internal flights, ensuring more options for travelers to explore Brazil’s stunning landscapes.

As the summer approaches, Brazil is poised for a vibrant tourism season, inviting both locals and international visitors to experience its breathtaking beaches and rich cultural heritage.
