The United Nations has affirmed Volodymyr Zelenskyy's position as the legitimate President of Ukraine, following recent statements made by U.S. President Donald Trump.
Stéphane Dujarric, the spokesperson for UN Secretary-General António Guterres, stated in New York that "President Zelenskyy is in office following duly conducted elections." This statement was a direct response to Trump's remarks, where he referred to Zelenskyy as a "dictator."
Trump has recently indicated a willingness to engage in negotiations with Moscow to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, which began with Russia's invasion in 2022. To date, Ukraine has not been involved in these discussions.
