Planning a trip to Europe? If you're a UK citizen, be aware of upcoming changes to entry requirements. Following Brexit, new regulations are being implemented that will affect travel to popular destinations like Spain, Portugal, Italy, Malta, and Greece. Soon, British passport holders will need to register on an automated system and apply for a visa waiver through the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS). The ETIAS visa waiver, costing £6 for travelers aged 18 to 70 (free for those outside this range), will be valid for three years. Unlike the Entry/Exit System (EES), which digitally records entry and exit data, the ETIAS requires advance application, ideally a few weeks before your trip. The online application process should take about 15 minutes and will require personal information, travel document details, and information about your travel plans. Ensure your British passport is valid for at least three months beyond your intended stay. While the system isn't yet live, keep an eye on the official ETIAS website for updates and the launch of the application portal. Planning ahead will ensure a smooth and stress-free European getaway.
