Santuario de Libro de Lough Kinale: Tesoro Irlandés del Siglo IX en Exhibición Después de Décadas de Conservación

El Museo Nacional de Irlanda exhibe el Objeto de Lough Kinale, un significativo santuario de libro irlandés del siglo IX, como pieza central de la exposición 'Palabras en la Ola'. La exposición se inauguró el 30 de mayo de 2025 y está programada para durar hasta el 24 de octubre de 2025. Destaca las importantes contribuciones culturales de Irlanda a la Europa medieval temprana.

Descubierto en 1986 en Lough Kinale, Condado de Longford, este artefacto es uno de los únicos ocho contenedores decorativos irlandeses supervivientes para manuscritos sagrados. Su excepcional conservación permite a los espectadores apreciar detalles intrincados, incluyendo una cruz, medallones y bisagras con cabeza de serpiente.

Después de 39 años de meticulosa conservación, esta notable pieza del patrimonio irlandés ahora es accesible al público. La exposición 'Palabras en la Ola' presenta 17 manuscritos medievales y más de 100 artefactos, proporcionando una visión integral de la influencia cultural de Irlanda durante la Edad Media.
