South Korea Invests €131 Million in Quantum Tech Development for 2025

South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) announced a €131 million (198 billion KRW) investment in quantum science and technology for 2025. The funding will support 24 projects focused on technology development, talent cultivation, and international collaboration.

The initiative includes the "Quantum Computing Service and Utilization Infrastructure" project, aimed at establishing domestic quantum computing resources for research institutions. The "Quantum ICT Engineering Technology Development" project seeks to enhance technological independence and industrial competitiveness. Additionally, the "Development of Quantum Information Measurement Methodologies and Core Technologies" project will explore advanced methodologies.

International collaboration will be fostered through the "Global Partnership Program for Leading Universities in Quantum Science and Technology." This program will build upon existing partnerships to strengthen cooperation with global institutions. The "Quantum Research Hub Project" will establish two research centers focused on R&D, talent development, and infrastructure expansion, each operating an "Open Joint Quantum Lab" to promote collaboration between academia, industry, and research institutes.
