In a significant diplomatic shift, numerous countries, including France, the UK, Canada, Australia, and Portugal, have formally recognized the State of Palestine in the lead-up to the UNGA. As of September 2025, 156 UN member states, approximately 80% of the total, recognize Palestine as a sovereign state. On the sidelines of the UNGA, Prime Minister Sharif is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with various world leaders and senior UN officials to discuss matters of mutual interest.
He will emphasize Pakistan's commitment to the UN charter, conflict prevention, peace promotion, and global prosperity, particularly in light of Pakistan's current role as a member of the UNSC.
