Federal Judge Orders Restoration of Voice of America Funding and Jobs After Trump Administration Cuts

Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

A federal judge has mandated the Trump administration to reinstate all positions and financial support for the Voice of America (VOA) and other US-funded news organizations.

The ruling states that the previous actions to dismantle the VOA were in violation of both the law and the Constitution.

Over 1,300 VOA employees, including approximately 1,000 journalists, were placed on leave following an order from President Donald Trump.

The White House had previously accused the broadcaster of being "anti-Trump" and "radical".

VOA was established during World War II to counter Nazi propaganda and has since become a major global media outlet.

The ruling highlights that due to the cuts, "VOA is not reporting the news for the first time in its 80-year existence".
