Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney met with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, seeking support amid U.S. President Donald Trump's attacks on Canada's sovereignty and economy. Macron noted tariffs cause inflation. Carney will also visit Britain and Canada's Arctic region. He emphasized Canada's distinct identity from the U.S., built on French, English, and Indigenous foundations. Carney has no immediate plans to visit Washington but hopes to speak with Trump by phone.
