Lebanese Foreign Minister, Youssef Rajji, called for international pressure on Israel to withdraw from all occupied Lebanese territories and cease violations. This statement was made during Rajji's meeting with the EU Special Representative for the Middle East and North Africa, Stefano Sannino, as reported by the Lebanese Foreign Ministry. Rajji emphasized Lebanon's firm stance against Israel's continued aggression and violations of Lebanese sovereignty. He reiterated the demand for Israel's complete withdrawal from occupied territories and a halt to its repeated attacks on Lebanese sovereignty, particularly in the south, and its persistent violations of Beirut's airspace. The EU representative and the international community were urged to pressure Israel to adhere to resolutions demanding respect for Lebanon's territorial integrity, cessation of hostilities, and commitment to Security Council Resolution 1701, dating back to August 2006. Rajji also discussed the issue of Syrian displacement in Lebanon, noting it has taken a significant toll. He called on the international community to support Lebanon in repatriating 1.8 million Syrian refugees, stressing the country's inability to bear the burden amid its ongoing economic crisis. Since 2019, Lebanon has faced severe financial challenges, with the Lebanese pound losing over 98% of its value, plummeting from 1,500 to an average of 90,000 against the dollar. Resolution 1701 calls for a cessation of hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel, establishing a zone free of armed personnel between the Blue Line and the Litani River in southern Lebanon, with the Lebanese army and UNIFIL forces ensuring this area's security. Escalating tensions have been observed, with Israel launching attacks on Lebanon, resulting in casualties and widespread damage. These actions have prompted concerns about a broader conflict, with over 4,000 killed and 17,000 injured since the conflict's resurgence. Israel continues its incursions into Lebanese territory, violating sovereignty and prompting international concern.
