Ukraine intends to establish its own space forces by the end of 2025. This initiative is part of an ambitious defense sector development program and includes the integration of air and missile defense, as well as the development of cyber and space capabilities. By the end of 2025, it plans to achieve 60% operational readiness in these areas.
As part of this strategy, Ukraine also plans to join European Union space programs such as Copernicus, Space Weather Events, and Near-Earth Objects by ratifying the relevant agreement with the EU. By 2026, the introduction of advanced military technologies is expected, including autonomous strike systems, artificial intelligence-based solutions, electronic warfare systems, as well as the development of aerospace reconnaissance and digital visualization, integrated into a unified battle management system.
The United States established its Space Force in 2019, and France its Aerospace Force the same year, investing €3.6 billion in their development through 2025. China is actively developing its space capabilities, launching 45 defense satellites in 2022, 15 more than the United States, and possessing one of the most powerful space reconnaissance systems in the world. Russia is also a significant player in the space sector, possessing the potential to employ weapons beyond Earth.
