Thailand is celebrating the enactment of its marriage equality law in 2025, making it the first country in Southeast Asia and the third in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage. The law, officially known as the Amendment to the Civil and Commercial Code Act, took effect on January 23, 2025, granting equal family rights to all individuals regardless of sexual orientation.

This landmark legislation replaces gender-specific terms with gender-neutral ones and ensures equal access to benefits such as social security, healthcare, and property rights for same-sex couples. To celebrate, the government, in collaboration with Bangkok Pride, hosted a mass marriage registration event on January 23, 2025.

Thailand is also solidifying its position as Asia's premier LGBTQIAN+ hub with Thailand's Pride Celebration 2025. Central Pattana Plc is launching "Thailand's Pride Celebration 2025: Pride For All," timed with Pride Month, emphasizing human rights and economic progress. Celebrations will occur throughout June across 39 Central locations, revolving around the theme “Embracing Freedom,” and will kick off on May 31 at CentralWorld with Love with Pride 2025, including a major Pride Parade.
