Scientists Map Global Natural Hydrogen Deposits for Clean Energy

Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

A new study by universities in Oxford, Durham, and Toronto has mapped potential global deposits of natural hydrogen.

Researchers suggest this energy source could meet humanity's needs for 170,000 years without emissions. The exploration utilizes geological principles similar to those used in helium searches.

The study identifies geological environments common across the planet where these deposits are located. However, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) warns about technological and economic challenges in extracting this hydrogen.
