D-Orbit and Planetek Group Merge to Enhance Space-Based Data Processing

20:25, 04 April

Edited by: Katya Palm Beach

D-Orbit, a space logistics and orbital transportation firm, and Planetek Group, specializing in Earth observation and geospatial analysis, announced a strategic merger on April 4, 2025, in Fino Mornasco, Italy. Both companies will maintain operational autonomy while exploring innovative business models and synergies. The merger aims to enhance capabilities in space-based cloud applications, AI-driven data processing in orbit, and real-time data exchange services. Previous collaborations include the AI-eXpress mission, which utilized AI and blockchain to improve satellite responsiveness and enable low-latency analytics transmission. D-Orbit acquired 100% of Planetek's shares, integrating Planetek's shareholders into D-Orbit's ownership. Both companies will expand their portfolios to benefit government, security, commercial, and environmental sectors, as well as the broader space community.
