Vienna, June 23, 2025 — The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), led by Director General Rafael Grossi, urged maximum restraint and a resumption of diplomatic dialogue regarding the situation around Iran's nuclear facilities.
Grossi emphasized the importance of protecting nuclear facilities and continuing the peaceful use of atomic energy, noting that armed attacks on such facilities are unacceptable and could have serious consequences both domestically and abroad.
This call comes amid US and Israeli airstrikes on June 22, 2025, targeting Iranian nuclear sites, including Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, which led to significant damage and heightened regional tensions.
The IAEA Director General stated his readiness to immediately dispatch experts to cooperate with Iran to ensure safety and verification at nuclear facilities within the agency's mandate.
The IAEA continues to closely monitor the situation, advocating for diplomatic solutions and the resumption of inspections to prevent further escalation of the conflict.
